Hello friends and happy belated 4th of July!
I hope you had an exciting weekend full of good food and good company. I definitely had a fun weekend…and now I will show you pictures of it. 😉
The weekend technically started with a night of baseball on Thursday – I went and saw the Rivercats (the A’s minor league team) face off against the Fresno Grizzlies (the Giants minor league team)…since it was the eve of 4th of July, they had a special fireworks show. The fireworks view is always awesome at Raley Field!
I woke up bright and early on the 4th to go for a 4 mile run in my
America France attire? They were my only team left in the World Cup and once I finished my run, I was planning on going to enjoy some brunch while cheering them on against Germany. As we all know, they lost, but they definitely put up a good fight!
Later in the day, Chris and I headed over to Old Sac and met up with Scott and some of his friends on his boat. In nearly 3 years of friendship, I had never been on his boat before…mostly because I have had broken bones and casts for the past 2 summers. But that was finally rectified on Friday, and I’d say I made up for my lack of patriotism earlier in the day too 🙂
After boating, I went to my friend Tracy’s house for a BBQ, where she also had a giant blow up slip n’ slide set up. Basically the majority of my 4th of July was spent in a bikini in the sun, which is like a dream come true for me. Good thing I did the 3 day cleanse before, right?
Saturday was mostly a day of recovery, with the exception of a couple of sporting events — after finally getting my stolen pedals fixed, I went to watch Netherlands vs Costa Rica with Austin & Chris. Then I went home and did some chores before heading back out to watch UFC fights with other friends. Umm how bad ass is Ronda Rousey?! She knocked out her opponent in SIXTEEN seconds!
I’m generally not even a huge fan of fighting/boxing/etc, but I really do appreciate any excuse to hang out with friends and yell at the TV. Saturday night was no exception 🙂
In the spirit of keeping my weekend productive, I woke up on Sunday and did my weekly long run. I was pumped to test out my new [NEON YELLOW] Asics and they did not disappoint! I shaved off an entire minute from last week’s run — and ran half a mile further.
Afterward, I went grocery shopping and had some time to kill before dodgeball, so I decided to do some food prep for the week. I made a bunch of chicken + bean + veggie burritos that are currently living in my freezer. Much cheaper and healthier than frozen burritos from the grocery store!
I then got ready and dressed for dodgeball, looked at myself in the mirror, and realized how utterly ridiculous I looked. Chuck Norris trucker hat (yes…that exists.), neon running shoes, knee socks…I clearly know how to dress like an adult in public.
All in all, it was a super fun weekend. A nice balance of active and indulgent…just how I like it!
How did you celebrate the 4th?
Are you into dressing up ridiculously?
