Hey look! A blog post that isn’t just pictures of my weekend! (Never fear, you can always just check my Instagram for plenty of those!)
I did have a fun weekend full of all the same fun activities I’m always doing (long run, drinks, softball, dodgeball, REPEAT!), but you’ll just have to take my word for it.
Today, I’m linking up with my favorite lady Becky for Treat Yourself Tuesday. As Becky puts it, Treat Yourself Tuesday is a way to reflect on the ways you’ve treated yourself lately:
“Do whatever feels best for you. Do something that will make you feel relaxed and loved and happy. Treat yourself well and treat yourself often so that you will become the best you possible and in turn be your best for others in your life!”

Without further ado…check out how I’ve been treating myself lately:
Retail therapy…gotta love it. After a couple of challenging weeks at work, and staying 1+ hours late several days last week, I splurged on my first ever (self-purchased) designer purse at the end of the day on Friday. I have zero justification for this purchase except that I’ve been wanting to buy a Rebecca Minkoff for well over a year now but could never find a good deal — then, I spotted this one on sale for $100 off. I had to!
Cleaning therapy…Ok, I may get some weird looks for this one, but after my long (10 mile!) run on Saturday, I spent a good hour or two deep cleaning our kitchen and clearing out a sink full of dishes. It was way too hot to do anything outside, and it felt AMAZING afterward to be able to see the counter and the bottom of our sink! I took on my room a little bit too, but that never lasts long and is already messy. Typical.
Food therapy. Before going to karaoke on Saturday, Lisa and I got some much needed froyo that was perfect for this weeklong 100+ degree heat spell. I loaded it up with fruit, pb cups, and some sprinkles to make it pretty 😉
And pretty much every time I play a Xoso sport, whether it be Ultimate Frisbee or Softball/Dodgeball, you better believe I will be treating myself to
almost an entire basket of fries. Sunday was no exception. Also, have I mentioned I like ketchup? With Russell’s help, I’m pretty sure we knocked down half a bottle of Heinz with those fries. #coupleswhoeatketchuptogetherstaytogether
Sweat therapy. I have been slacking lately on my early wake up calls and gym trips, and since it’s too hot to run after work, my only option is to go to the gym. However, I still l-o-v-e my new gym and I love the convenience of it being 3 blocks from my office!
I went on Sunday to get a little cardio in before softball & dodgeball, and as soon as I saw they were playing Bridesmaids, I skedaddled down to the cardio theater and sat on the elliptical till it was over. I don’t think I had ever stayed on an elliptical for longer than 30 minutes! Bridesmaids is just. that. good. “Auf Wiedersehen, ass hole!”
Nail therapy. I normally do my nails myself because it’s a nice meditative/relaxing ritual for me, but I had a groupon for a gel mani and decided to put it to use yesterday because I have a job interview today. I went much more conservative than usual with my color choice, but pretty much half of my nails were broken/chipped so they’re all short and stubby anyway. Manicures and pedicures are the ultimate #treatyoself treat!
Shopping, eating, working out…That’s pretty much all it takes to make Katie a happy camper. All you’re missing is a glass of wine
