Weekend in Photos

I feel like I probably say this every time I post a weekend recap, but this weekend was seriously the best.

It can’t be a bad thing that each weekend seems to be better than the last, right? Even though I didn’t recap it, I promise last weekend was the best too ;) Let’s jump right in…

photo 1 (1)On Friday night, Russell and I set out on a 24 mile bike ride. My big 30 mile ride to benefit Best Buddies (donate HERE!) is in just under 3 weeks!

Our ride actually ended up being closer to 25 miles, but we broke it up with a picnic at the halfway point. Russell brought crackers, cheese, hummus, salami, bell peps, and wine…Are my eating habits easy to figure out or what? We didn’t coordinate and both ended up bringing Reeses because we’re obsessed it’s amazing.

The next morning, I hopped in the car with my brother and we headed to Santa Rosa to see our family. We gathered to send off my cousin Neal, who is embarking on a yearlong cross-country rock climbing road trip, and to celebrate the birth of his brother (my other cousin)’s daughter, Paislee. Isn’t she adorable??

photo 3I got back to Sacramento in time to hit the town and…light birthday candles at all the bars? (It was definitely not anyone’s birthday…)

Instead of going for a long run (umm I think the 25 miler probably counts for my weekend exercise!), we fueled up with brunch before our softball games. My team lost badly, as we always do. ;) Nothing a beer at University of Beer, a new spot that recently opened downtown, couldn’t fix! And of course…French fries.

Oh, and this also happened. My best friend tagged me in the now infamous Ice Bucket Challenge. I was on the fence about actually doing it because California is experiencing a severe drought. We decided to re purpose the ice water that had been keeping our beers cold, so no wasting was done! If you’re my Facebook friend you can see the video here. And that’s all she wrote. Have a great week!

What food would you bring on a picnic?

Have you done the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge?

  1. Um yeah, I’d say the 25 mile bike ride was sufficient.
Your weekend does look like it was awesome! I’m still in awe that your cousin is taking a year long climbing trip around the country. That’s crazy! I’m sure it will definitely be a year to remember.

  2. Your bike ride looks like so much fun. I love indoor cycle but have always been to timid to attempt a real ride (aside from the excuse of not having gear). I love that you are so adventurous with fitness and outdoors, from half marathons to 30 mile bike rides, to fun things like softball. And Reese’s are absolutely the best.

    • I have yet to try an indoor cycling class, but I need to soon because I need practice shifting gears before my big ride in a few weeks!

I feel like being active/fit is a lot easier when you’re able to work out in ways that are fun and social! Maybe that’s why I find myself doing all these crazy things haha.

  3. I’m jealous of your bike ride, it’s been too too long since I’ve been on a good, long bike ride! And way to go on the ice bucket challenge!
