Hi all, and welcome 2015! Sadly I haven’t updated since I took a few minutes to look back on 2014.
For the most part, I was too busy enjoying my holiday break to keep up with posting…And then, back to reality I went! Having a break between Christmas and New Years was nice, even if some of that time was emotionally draining (after she passed away on December 22nd, we had a memorial service for my grandma on January 2nd).
It sure has been rough getting back into the swing of things (I came down with a gnarly chest cold my 2nd day back in the office and haven’t ran or worked out since 🙁 ), but a few things have been keeping me sane that I want to share with you today. In true Run Now, Wine Later fashion, they are mostly all either fitness or food related 😛
A few of my friends from high school had been posting on Facebook and Insta about these amazing fashionable and functional gym bags and I eventually realized that they were created by a girl I went to elementary and high school with! Steph is currently running a Kickstarter campaign to fund the first round of production of her two bags, the Jessica bag (above) and the Tom bag (below):
Aren’t they great? In addition to being fashion-forward, they also have tons of convenient interior and exterior functions. I’m a sucker for a pop of color, so I decided to purchase the Kickstarter reward that would get me the Jessica bag:
Something I really love about Steph’s campaign is that she is also committing to taking two new fitness classes every week during the duration of her Kickstarter campaign. You can see reviews of the boxing and spin classes she took this week at the PERSU blog. Good luck Steph!
2. Oatmeal & Chia seeds
I have eaten this for breakfast every morning since we got back from the holidays. With a cough that won’t go away, I have been craving hot things for every meal, and this breakfast fits the bill! Plus, the chia seeds add antioxidants & Omega-3s, and a fun crunchy texture to boot.
Uhh, did I just describe crunchy oatmeal as fun? You have my permission to leave now 😉
Several months ago, my friend Maggie introduced me to Rocksbox. Rocksbox is an unlimited jewelry rental service that only costs $20/month! I’m not huge on monthly subscription services, but she got a discount if I used her referral code so I decided to try it.
I’m so glad I did! Rocksbox is great because you can put items on your wishlist, make specific requests, and give feedback on each set of jewelry you try. After I only really liked one piece in my first set, I have loved each subsequent set more and more!
I’m not generally very good at putting together jewelry and outfits, and the ladies at Rocksbox are awesome at it. Plus, for each set I’ve gotten, I’ve been able to mix and match the jewelry with stuff I already have! I put this necklace above on my wishlist and have already worn it twice this week 😉 If you want to try it out yourself, check it out and use my referral code, katiebff78, to get your first month free!
Okay, I lied. Fabletics is my first monthly subscription service love (although they have no obligation to pay a monthly fee,
which is mostly why I signed up). This month, I got this awesome workout outfit with possibly THE softest leggings I’ve ever owned. I want to live in them all of the time.
I have 4 pairs of shorts and 2 pairs of leggings now from Fabletics (plus quite a few tops, including this awesome wrap that I love that is also super soft) and out of over 5 outfits and over 12 pieces, there have only been 1-2 that I don’t absolutely love. All of their workout gear is fantastic! If you aren’t already on board with Fabletics, you can get your first outfit for only $25!
5. Homemade pizza
Russell’s uncle got him a pizza stone and various pizza-making tools for Christmas. We already made a semi regular habit of making pizzas together before Christmas, but I have been the lucky beneficiary of his newfound interest in perfecting the art of awesome pizza making. He has already gotten pret-ty good at it!
The above is last night’s pesto-chicken-sun dried tomato concoction. We’ve also made a good ol’ pepperoni with red sauce and are currently dreaming up an enchilada-themed pizza. When I had time off over the holidays, I loved that we were able to carve out time every day to work out and run, and we would always meet up afterward and either cook or go out to an awesome meal together. It’s great having a boyfriend that loves food as much as I do. 🙂
What have you been loving lately?
Do you have any subscription services that you pay for monthly?
