Once upon a time, I had a blog that I wrote in regularly. Then I started to slow down…and then I went 2 months without blogging. Whoops!
It’s not that I haven’t thought about it. And I wish I could say that I’ve been too busy changing my life or traveling the world or something of the sort, but the real answer is a little more like: busy with the holidays, and I started binge-watching American Horror Story (starting with Coven and moving on to Freak Show 😛 ) in the evenings instead of blogging. *insert embarrassed emoji here*
That being said, I’m still the same girl that I was in high school (don’t ask me how long ago that was) (OK, it was over 10 years ago)…and that would be the girl who documents and takes pictures of everything. So although I haven’t updated this little bloggity blog since a couple of weeks before Thanksgiving, you bet yer butt I’ve got pictures to get y’all caught up 😉
I have no intention of giving up on my blog…on the contrary, I have plans to run a half marathon in March, and I even got a planner this year (check out Passion Planner!) to step up my To-Do list game, which should give me plenty of blog fodder. But until then…here are some pictures of my Life Lately.
The weekend after the Beat the Blerch 10K, I went to Sonoma for some wine tasting (and apparently jello shot-slurping) for my friend Desene’s bachelorette party. I met Desene, and her now husband Jordan, in the dorms our freshman year of college. It was also my first bachelorette party! And at the rate my friends seem to be going, I’m sure it won’t be my last 😛
Russell & I kicked off Thanksgiving by running a CHILLY 10K with thousands of other Sacramentans!
After Run To Feed The Hungry, we went to Thanksgiving brunch at my parents house (complete with the above pictured French Toast Casserole… YUM), then drove up north to finish Thanksgiving with Russell’s family, including his olive-fingered niece Audrey
That weekend, Desene married Jordan! We clean up alright, if I do say so myself.
Apparently I ran a lot in November…The following weekend, I ran one leg of the California International Marathon (CIM) Relay Challenge with my friends Mikey, Robbie, and Chris. We finished in 3:48:02, and I kept a respectable pace during my 7 mile leg!
And then, there were the holiday parties. Top: Young Dems Holiday Party with my former boss and current candidate for Mayor of Sacramento, Darrell Steinberg. Bottom: My office holiday party photobooth pictures…too much fun!
Fast forward to after Christmas…
Reunions with old friends…
…with my old roomie over coffee <3
…And with Russell (we usually stick with our respective fams for Christmas after splitting Thanksgiving)
And a wonderful New Years Eve spent with friends, good food, and lots of champagne!
Fast forward to this week, and I’m trying to focus on getting my half marathon training off to a strong start, despite a storm rolling through that is expected to last 2 weeks! I might have to force myself to run on the dreadmill, though the gym full of people with fresh New Years resolutions is probably the last place I’d like to be this month!
As far as resolutions go, I’d like to think that I have done a pretty good job for the last few years of incorporating healthy, active living into my daily routine enough that it has become habit. I do like to set myself goals throughout the year, and this blog has always been a great place to do that in order to stay accountable! Thanks for sticking with me!
How did you spend New Years Eve?
What are your goals for this year?
