Life Lately

Once upon a time, I had a blog that I wrote in regularly. Then I started to slow down…and then I went 2 months without blogging. Whoops!

It’s not that I haven’t thought about it. And I wish I could say that I’ve been too busy changing my life or traveling the world or something of the sort, but the real answer is a little more like: busy with the holidays, and I started binge-watching American Horror Story (starting with Coven and moving on to Freak Show 😛 ) in the evenings instead of blogging. *insert embarrassed emoji here*

That being said, I’m still the same girl that I was in high school (don’t ask me how long ago that was) (OK, it was over 10 years ago)…and that would be the girl who documents and takes pictures of everything. So although I haven’t updated this little bloggity blog since a couple of weeks before Thanksgiving, you bet yer butt I’ve got pictures to get y’all caught up 😉

I have no intention of giving up on my blog…on the contrary, I have plans to run a half marathon in March, and I even got a planner this year (check out Passion Planner!) to step up my To-Do list game, which should give me plenty of blog fodder. But until then…here are some pictures of my Life Lately. Continue reading

Birthday Week in Photos

I can’t remember the last time I started a blog post with a sentence other than something like, “so this post is a little delayed, but…” Apparently I’ve been busy!

Last Thursday (September 24th) was my birthday! Pretty much every year since I’ve had this blog, I’ve done some sort of birthday post, so I didn’t want to abandon the tradition! For fun you can check out my 25th birthday quarter life crisis (I was nearing the end of a really rough year) and my 26th birthday photo post (a rough year is best followed by a re-building year!).

Age 26 was kind of a weird one for me. It is so strange to me that for an entire year I have had a job that I like, kept up regular exercise (ran 2 half marathons) and a healthy diet with no significant physical ailments (besides my scary bike crash and hospital stay), and am in a healthy loving relationship (with someone whose terrible jokes make me laugh just as much today as they did a year ago).

I guess I just got used to things being wrong.

I definitely still find little things to complain about from time to time, as I’m sure we all do, but overall I am a lucky girl! Case in point: my birthday celebrations lasted a whole week! Read on for more :) Continue reading

Weekend in Photos

Hello and happy Monday!

This weekend I decided to make a conscious effort to take more pictures (or at least more than usual) so that I could document the weekend. The interesting thing was, this was the first weekend in 4 weeks that we actually stayed in town the entire weekend with nothing planned. Since we went to New York the second week in July, I think there have only been 2, maybe 3 weeks that we haven’t been traveling or out and about. That’s summer for ya, right?

Without any real set plans, I still ended up having a pretty fun weekend, with some relaxation sprinkled in 😉 Continue reading

Weekend in Photos

Question of the week: Where has the summer gone?

I was reading social media posts this morning saying that some students are going back to school today…What the what?!

We just got over a pretty insane week of 100+ temps (I think we had 3 or 4 days in a row, peaking at 107…yikes) in Northern California, so it still definitely feels like summer here. And this weekend’s activities definitely solidified that feeling!

On Saturday morning, I peeled myself out of bed just in time to make it to a yoga class at my gym. Russell and I have been trying to get “in shape” for an upcoming Lake Tahoe trip. My goal lately has been 2 gym trips and 2 runs during the week…then hope for the best on the weekends ;P I’ve been pretty good about the first part for several weeks now, but for me to actually bust out a decently challenging workout on a Saturday this weekend was a big win for me. Gone are the days of my 10 mile Saturday morning runs, apparently! Continue reading

Weekend in Photos

Look at me, 2 posts in a week’s time! #winning

Many weekends lately I’ve found that I either don’t take enough pictures over the weekend or don’t do enough fun stuff to make a blog post about my weekend sound exciting, but this weekend was a pretty fun one! I feel like once it gets warm outside, the weekend activities start to multiply. Let’s begin, shall we? Continue reading

St. Patricks Day Weekend in Photos

Whoops, there goes another week of radio silence here at Run Now, Wine Later. My bad :) Things have been busy around here!

It feels like we’ve gotten to the point in the year where everyone is coming out of hibernation…Every weekend for the past month or so feels like it’s been booked up with things to do, whether it be a birthday, engagement party, softball game, etc etc. This weekend was no exception!

It kind of started off early, since my firm was in the middle of changing offices and I didn’t have to go in to unpack until the afternoon. Since we would be gone on Saturday, I decided to do my long run Friday morning instead. I ran 9 miles and it was HOT. It also didn’t help that half of the water fountains I came across were shut off :( Continue reading

Weekend in Photos

Has anyone else noticed that, as spring approaches, people come out of hibernation and start wanting to actually do things? We’ve been getting some spring weather here and there and I’ve totally noticed my calendar filling up lately. Suddenly, weekends spent binging Netflix on the couch are no more and I actually have to go out and socialize with people 😉

I guess it’s not the worst thing…House of Cards can always wait. (but if any of you spoil Season 3 for me, there’ll be hell to pay!)

Weekend in Photos

Hi all! Just dropping in really quickly to share some snippets of my weekend…for the first time in forever, it seems!

By all accounts, my weekend shouldn’t have been anything to write home about. I left the office early on Friday to head to the Bay Area and prep for a work event which took up my Saturday morning. Oh, it was also raining – HARD – pretty much all weekend. Can’t complain too much though, it was the first rainy spell since December! California really needed it.

Anyway, despite having to work and the presence of rain, it turned out to be a really nice weekend! Continue reading

Super Bowl Food – Some Healthy, Some Not

Here at Run Now, Wine Later, we believe in balance. (Why did I say “we” just then? Who is we??)

Go to the gym in the morning so you can go to happy hour after work. Indulge in an afternoon cookie because you had oatmeal for breakfast and salad for lunch.

This will also be my approach to what food I make for the Super Bowl this year. I will likely be drinking a few beers, so I want to make sure that my grease to vegetable ratio isn’t completely off the charts, but on the other hand, it is the Super Bowl and it only happens once a year.

What’s the fun in having a once a year party if you don’t make it count?

Here are some recipes – some healthy, some not – that I have my eye on to bring to the party this year. Continue reading

Weekend in Photos

A little belated, but I figured Monday night was a better time than never at all to share pictures from my weekend!

Between coming back to work after the holiday for a hectic week at the office last week, and a busy day today that involved 6 hours of meetings, I made sure to cherish every moment of this past weekend, and took it relatively easy.

IMG_9582The weekend kicked off with the Kings game on Friday night. Shannon’s parents have season tickets and were kind enough to let us use them for the night! We played the Pacers and though we had the lead the entire game, it ended up going into overtime and we won by 1 point (!!!) Continue reading
